Key Ingredients
The Good Stuff

Hydrochloric Acid (HCL) & Pepsin
Hydrochloric acid (HCl) and the proteolytic enzyme pepsin that are secreted in the stomach are essential for digestion and absorption of nutrients from the food we eat. A supplement containing these ingredients can provide benefit in situations when less than optimal amounts are produced in the body – like during the natural aging process.
HCL facilitates the body’s absorption of multiple nutrients, including folate, vitamin B12, vitamin C, beta-carotene, iron, and various forms of calcium, magnesium, and zinc.
Pancreatic Enzymes
The pancreatic enzymes (amylase, lipase, and protease) secreted from the pancreas into the small intestine are essential for digestion and absorption of nutrients from the food we eat. A supplement containing these enzymes can provide benefit in situations when less than optimal amounts are produced in the body – like during the natural aging process.
Pancreatic enzymes facilitate the absorption of fat-soluble nutrients like vitamins A, D, E, and K, CoQ10, and omega-3 fatty acids.

Dairy-Free Certified
The Thorne Difference
Products with our Dairy-Free Certification have been thoroughly tested to ensure they are dairy-free.
Lactose is used as a base material for as much as 20 percent of prescription drugs and 6 percent of over-the-counter drugs. But, did you know that many nutritional supplement ingredients are routinely diluted with lactose? Some supplement ingredients commonly diluted with lactose include vitamin D, pancreatin, pepsin, and bromelain. Also, some emulsifying agents that enable fat-soluble substances to dissolve more easily in water can contain a hidden milk ingredient. Thorne has prided itself since day one (1984) in refusing to purchase raw materials diluted with lactose.
For example, pancreatin is often labeled as 3x, 5x, etc. That means that it is three times or five times as potent as the U.S. Pharmacopeia standard. However, unless the pancreatin is 9x, it has been diluted with something - most often with lactose. Thorne's pancreatin supplement is called Dipan-9 - the 9 representing 9x potency - the way it comes naturally from its porcine source.
Thorne's Multi Enzyme contains undiluted pepsin and pancreatin and does not contain any lactose.
